The Battle of Worcester - the inside story
Thursday 15th October 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.
This year marks the 375th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester, the final battle of the English Civil War, which was a pivotal moment in the history of both the city and the country.
In this talk, Tony Bryan looks beyond the story of the leaders of the battle, so often focussed on, to delve into what it might have been like for the townsfolk and the occupying soldiers when they were thrown together for about ten days in late August 1651.
The talk draws on his novel 'The Tailor Spy and The Little Maid', which tells the story of a Worcester tailor instrumental in the fortunes of the Roundheads and the misfortunes of the Royalists during the battle. Signed copies of 'The Tailor Spy and The Little Maid' will be available for purchase on the night at a special price for those attending.
